Vargas, from rivers and streams to magnificent beaches
In spite of being the second smallest state of the country and the most recently created political-territorial space, Vargas has 105,63 miles of coasts which use, almost all of them, in airport and tourism activities. Most of its population is gathered in the cities of “La Guaira, Catia la Mar and Maiquetía”. La Guaira counts with the main sea-port of the country and in Maiquetía with the International Airport “Simón Bolivar”.
Due to the great amount of beaches and the semi-arid tropical weather, it is one of the most important tourist attractions for the local as well as for the foreign visitors. The access to this region is by the “Caracas-La Guaira” freeway, which leads the visitor to “Panty Beach, Great beach and Los Caracas”, the best beaches of the region.
Following the coast highway visitors can access the towns of La Sabana, Chuspa and Guayabal, which hold the best clear waters, palms and rivers with wells, water falls and cascades of the zone. In addition, these towns count with some comforts of lodging and food and where you can rent fishing boats from the locals, along with the artisan fishermen and people living there who light up the landscape.
If you travel during the month of June, you will be able to enjoy of dances and typical drums music from these towns, expressions offered to “Saint John”, patron of the region.
