Mérida, shelter of eternal snows

The snow-covered summits of the mountain range of “Los Andes” dominate the state’s climate and geography and serve as a symbol of its capital, Mérida, the “City of the Gentlemen”.

The Mérida state counts, in its 7.021,49 square miles of extension, with different landscapes of great scenic beauty, that means, a great number of built and natural monuments, thermal waters, 4 national parks, torrent rivers, quiet lagoons and the highest and magnificent peaks of the country.  All these beauties also come with the kindness and hospitality of its people, which become a powerful attractive for the tourism, reinforced by a growing infrastructure, as well as a remarkable growth of tourist services in general.

Its marked cultural tradition lies in its outstanding folkloric manifestations such as the autumn waltzes, artisan works and an exquisite gastronomy.
