Filled with wonderful tourist destinies, the Táchira state offers the visitor a little bit of everything; since it has more than 6.835,08 square miles of mountainous surface that, along with its colorful Andean towns, history, culture and hospitality, give the landscape an air of peace and harmony. Green mountainous paths, dense fogs, plains, deserts, lagoons, vast floral crops, national parks and fantastic thermal waters are some of the natural beauties that charm the visitor by their magnificent landscapes that are intermingled with numerous monuments that keep secrets from the colonial time.
The main economic activity of the state is the agriculture, although it encourages the coal and copper exploitation as well, in addition, it has an intense commercial exchange with Colombia, because of its location in the border zone, separated only by the Táchira River.
The climate varies between 50 °F and 78,8 ºF according to the altitude. It displays constant fogs that surround the landscape in a cozy scene that offers a wonderful spectacle of colors when the sun shines.
Its capital is San Cristóbal, known for being, strategically, the most important point of commercial exchange from the time of the colony and by its rich artisan production that makes the difference from the others of the same kind due to its beautiful pieces made of mud, ceramics and the basketwork they make.
