Its capital city, Guanare, is well-known by all the Venezuelans like the home of the image that the Virgin Mary would have left into the hands of an Indian chief to whom the Virgin would have appeared on the side of the “Tucupido River”.  It is how the cult to the Virgin of Coromoto was born, cult that brings thousand of pilgrims to pay tribute to the venerated image, proclaimed officially “Patron of Venezuela.”  Where the event took place a majestic and monumental work was built, “The Votive Temple”, which recalls, in its huge dimensions, to a miracle that makes the religious tradition in Venezuela happens.
